The 2019 Federal Election comes at a pivotal moment for Australia agriculture and WAFarmers is calling on all candidates to commit to the following policies to underpin a profitable and sustainable farming sector and achieve the National Farmers Federation vision of a $100 billion farm gate output by 2030.

- $150 million additional funding over 4 years to go into the regional mobile black spots program across the WA Wheatbelt).
- $150 million additional funding to go into Wheatbelt regional roads.
- $150 million additional funding over 4 years for the Department of Agriculture and Water and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to enhancing Australia’s Biosecurity System and Trade market access.
- Double Farm Management Deposits to $1.6m and continue the current taxation arrangements for family farms under trust, to help build off farm assets to assist growers to self-manage drought.
- Ongoing matching federal funding contribution from government for agricultural research, development and extension.
- Maintain the existing diesel fuel rebate for off-road use to help keep our farms internationally competitive.
- No carbon tax impost on the agriculture sector (including transportation of agricultural supplies and products).
- Reduce company and personal income brackets in line with our major competitors.
- Support the continuation of the Live Export Trade under effective and viable regulations.
- Establish a dedicated skilled farm workers visa allowing workers 8 months seasonal annual access with no limits of return visits to Australia.
