Busselton-Margaret River Airport Freight Study | Producer Survey

The City of Busselton recently received a $55.9 million grant from the State of Western Australia for the upgrade of the Busselton-Margaret River Airport to interstate capacity.

Master planning has already been undertaken for the project to be completed to international standard and a unique opportunity exists to elevate the project to international service capability. Significant economies of scale can be achieved by upgrading the airport to international standard in a single-staged redevelopment project. To this end, the City is seeking an additional $10 million investment into the project through the Australian Government National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) – Round 3

The application will be focused on international freight services and will see the further extension of the runway and development of a general aviation precinct to cater for international freight carriers and associated supporting industries. To support this application, the City is seeking the assistance of regional producers in the southern part of the State to complete a short survey which will capture information and data that demonstrates the potential wide-reaching economic impact this additional investment in the airport expansion project would have.

Producers/suppliers are asked to complete the survey before Tuesday 2 February, 2016.
