China trip to enhance ag profile

WAFarmers President Dale Park will travel to China next week as part of a delegation to boost Australia’s trade profile in the country.

The trip will be an opportunity to promote Western Australian agriculture in China and put the industry front and centre in China’s future plans to feed its massive population, Mr Park said.

“If the industry is to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by Asia, it is essential for key figures and organisations within WA’s agriculture industry to develop and maintain a two-way relationship with China, and this trip is just one way of doing so,” Mr Park said.

“By securing our place in China’s future plans, there will be opportunities for much-needed investment to come into the sector and increase sustainability and efficiency.”

The visit will include trade discussions, site visits and supply chain considerations as part of the Australia Week in China program, which aims to enhance bilateral relations and promote Australia as a trade and investment partner.

Mr Park’s participation in the delegation has been facilitated by The Global Foundation.
