Current submissions

WAFarmers is busy with a variety of submissions at the moment.

The key submission is the Agricultural Competitiveness Green Paper due in mid-December. The highly-publicised Green Paper summarises the thoughts from more than 700 contributors across all aspects of the agricultural and agribusiness industry. Many of the policies developed by WAFarmers through the initial issues contribution resonate through the Green Paper. WAFarmers meets with the Agricultural Competitiveness Taskforce next week and look forward to articulating the priorities needed to increase the capacity and profitability of the industry.

Other submissions that WAFarrmers is working over the next three weeks include:

  • Senate inquiry into industry structures and systems governing the imposition of and disbursement of marketing and research and development (R & D) levies in the agricultural sector.
  • Parliamentary Joint Select Committee on the Australia Fund Establishment. This committee is tasked with inquiring into and reporting on the establishment of a fund to support rural and manufacturing industries with particular reference to the need for a fund to assist rural and manufacturing industries in crisis and support communities affected by natural disasters, including drought.
  • The Department of Commerce’s Work Health and Safety Bill 2014, which requests input from stakeholders on the model Work Health and Safety Laws proposed by WA.
  • The Senate inquiry into Tax and Superannuation Laws Amendment (2014 Measures No. 6) Bill 2014.
