Free farm business development workshops – DAFWA

Farm businesses throughout the State are encouraged to register now for free planning workshops provided by the Department of Agriculture and Food.

Department project manager Jason Moynihan said the training and support, which was part of the Farm Planning Workshop series, was being offered to assist rural businesses to build their resilience and capacity to grow.

“The workshops are expected to provide participants with the skills and confidence to improve their long-term financial viability and build their skills in strategic business planning,” Mr Moynihan said.

“Agrifood businesses in all industries are welcome to participate; from livestock to horticulture to irrigated crops and more.

“The Plan, Prepare, Prosper workshop is a free five-day training program designed to support farm businesses to develop strategic enterprise plans that will help decision making in times of risk and opportunity.

“The Planning for Profit workshop is a free one day workshop focused on taking home more from the farm business.

“Farm businesses will discover the most effective ways to increase profit by addressing the four key profit drivers: price, production, operating costs and business costs.

“Participants will also get a better understanding of achieving an effective price for produce, knowing costs of owning and running the business, optimising operating expenditure and targeting profitable production.”

All farm business members are encouraged to attend.
