Free info sessions for farm and pastoral businesses – DAFWA

Farm and pastoral business operators have the opportunity to attend seminars in the Midwest, western Gascoyne and Murchison regions focused on various support measures for businesses during dry seasonal conditions.

The Rural Business Development Corporation in conjunction with the Rural Financial Counselling Service WA, Regional Men’s Health Initiative and Australian Department of Human Services will provide detailed information about what support is available to farm and pastoral businesses.

Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia project manager Lewis Mavrantonis said the information sessions would provide a focus on the concessional loans schemes currently operating.

“We have developed these information sessions as a way to bring together all support options on offer to farm and pastoral businesses which are currently experiencing, or who have recently experienced, drought conditions,” Mr Mavrantonis said.

“All farm and pastoral businesses are encouraged to attend the two hour seminars which will be held in Carnarvon, Shark Bay and Yuna from 19 to 21 November.”

The Rural Business Development Corporation will provide details on the Australian Government’s Farm Finance and Drought Concessional Loans Schemes which will assist participants to determine whether the schemes are applicable for them.

The Rural Financial Counselling Service WA will present information on helping people and businesses through tough times and the Regional Men’s Health Initiative will outline its activities.

The Department of Human Services will provide an overview of the Farm Household Allowance payment.

The seminar dates are Wednesday 19 November (12.30pm-2.30pm) at Fascine Lodge, Carnarvon; Thursday 20 November (10.00am-12.00pm) at Hamelin Station Homestead, Shark Bay; and Friday 21 November (10.00am-12.00pm) at Yuna Community Hall, Yuna.
