Growers encouraged to take part in farm finance survey

The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) encourages growers to take part in a survey which examines their financial health status.

The Department of Agriculture and Food has engaged an independent research company to conduct an online survey of approximately 5000 broadcare farm businesses from Northampton to Esperance.

WAFarmers Farm Business Spokesman, Tony York, said it was important growers took part in the online survey to ensure the agricultural industry had an accurate picture of the current situation.

“The information growers provide will assist all farmers in Western Australia and it will also give industry and government a much better picture of what is occurring in the bush.

“To make educated decisions, government and industry need an accurate picture of the farm financial health of West Australian farmers and I urge growers to be as accurate and honest as possible when completing the survey.”

Mr York said while it was already late in the season there was still plenty to be gained from completing the survey.

“The survey closes on 29 April, so the information will still be useful to government and industry to have a clear picture of the landscape going into the 2013 season,” Mr York concluded.
