Latest farm tech at forum

Industry professionals will deliver the latest information on technological developments in farming next month at a forum hosted by WAFarmers.

Presented in conjunction with the Agricultural Biotechnology Council of Australia, the event – Farming into the Future: Biotechnology and Your Farm – is a chance for all farmers to increase their knowledge on a range of topics related to cropping and biotechnology.

WAFarmers Grains Section President Kim Simpson said the forum would enable farmers to hear about the latest information from experts in various fields.

“With speakers like internationally-recognised agricultural biotechnology expert Professor Mike Jones and genetics and breeding expert Professor Ian Edwards in attendance, farmers will leave the event fully updated on the latest technology and research in farming and better equipped to farm more efficiently,” Mr Simpson said.

Topics covered will include supply chain considerations for biotechnology products, coexistence, legislation and regulation in Australia and domestic and international marketing considerations.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss the issues important to them at a public grains meeting following the forum, Mr Simpson said.

“The priorities that arise from the public meeting will be passed onto the WAFarmers Grains Council for consideration heading into their Annual General Meeting later in March,” he said.

The forum takes place on Friday, March 14 at Merredin Regional Community and Leisure Centre from 9am to 1pm, followed be a public grains meeting from 2pm to 5pm.

Ends.
