Nufarm’s pre-harvest use patten for glyphosate registered by APVMA

In July, the WAFarmers Grains Section made a submission to support NuFarm’s application regarding the “Proposed variation to registration of Pintobi Attack™ Herbicide with IQ inside™ containing the approved active constituent glyphosate,” which has recently been approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA).

The WAFarmers Grains Section supported the new use pattern of glyphosate in current farming systems and an increase in application rates for several reasons including:

  • Offering growers an additional tool for weed management.
  • Providing a second group of chemicals to rotate each year to reduce the chances of developing resistance and help to keep the seed weed-banks low.
  • The proposed change in MRL would be the same as the Codex Alimentarius, American and Canadian MRLs for glyphosate. While Canada uses a CODEX standard and is a major exporter of Canola, it is still able to access key markets such as China, EU, Pakistan and South Korea.

Nufarm also has a youtube video outlining the application rates and timing:
