Thank you, Senator Back

By WAFarmers President Tony York

Yesterday it was announced that WA Senator Chris Back would be retiring from Federal Parliament. Next week marks his last sitting week in the Senate.

Senator Back has been a strong and long-time advocate for the agricultural sector during his tenure, spurred on by his background in veterinary practice.

In particular, his support for the live export industry has been second to none, and his passionate involvement during the Federal Labor Government’s banning of the export trade was widely appreciated.

Senator Back’s experience and knowledge within the volunteer firefighting organisations has also allowed him a full understanding of the volunteer sector’s contribution and importance in regional WA.

On behalf of WAFarmers and our members, I sincerely thank Senator Back for his outstanding and invaluable support for agriculture and regional issues during his term in Federal Parliament, and wish him all the very best with his future endeavours.
