Vitality 2018 to recognise ag industry’s increasing strength

Members of the WA agricultural community are invited to attend the WAFarmers Annual Conference: Vitality 2018 on 1-2 March at the Pan Pacific Perth, which will this year seek to celebrate the industry’s ever-increasing strength as an economic powerhouse.

Hosted by former Rural Focus Director Vin Dawes, proceedings will kick off on Thursday 1 March, with the day comprising of commodity-specific AGMs, the WAFarmers AGM, and presentations from numerous industry representatives. Formalities will be followed by a networking sundowner sponsored by CropLife Australia.

Friday’s proceedings will see an official open from Minister for Agriculture and Food; Regional Development Hon. Alannah MacTiernan MLC. Following this, delegates should look forward to presentations from Charlie Massy (presentation sponsored by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development) and Jennie Franceschi (Fresh Produce Alliance; 2017 Telstra WA Businesswoman Award Winner, Corporate and Private Award). Mr Massy will provide attendees with an understanding and vision on how one can achieve sustainability and growth while co-existing with the environment, while Ms Franceschi will speak about her experiences in going from producer to packer, to marketer to international sales body.

Following this, delegates will be treated to a Leadership Panel, which will outline how recently-appointed leaders within the agricultural industry have taken to their new roles, and where their respective organisations are heading. Speakers on this panel will be Trent Kensett-Smith (CEO, WAFarmers), Emma White (CEO, Kimberley Pilbara Cattlemen’s Association), Jackie Jarvis (CEO, Rural, Regional, Remote Women’s Network of WA), Cam Dumesny (CEO, Western Roads Federation), and Fred Troncone (Executive Director – Operations, Wellard Limited).

In addition to an Industry Tech Panel, the final presenters for the day will include Russell Bresland (Bresland Insurance Group), Mike Norton (Safe Farms WA), and Terry Slevin (Cancer Council WA).

As ever, formalities will conclude with the Gala Dinner and Awards – an event which will celebrate the year that was, and acknowledge a number of outstanding individuals from the Western Australian agricultural industry.

WAFarmers President Tony York said the conference is a must-attend event in the WA agricultural calendar and is recognised as the number one networking event for anyone involved in the industry.

“The state’s agricultural industries have been recognised as a pillar of strength for the economy, with local farmers creating produce that keeps consumers from around the state, country and beyond fed and watered, so we aim to recognise this ever-increasing strength at the event,” he said.

“As a leading annual agricultural conference in WA, the event attracts delegates from across the state and around the country, bringing together the leaders of our industry to learn and discuss ideas with world-leading experts and to meet industry-decision makers.”

Bookings are essential. Book by Friday 23 February to avoid missing out.
