WAFarmers congratulates Liberal-National Government on re-election

The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) congratulates the Liberal-National Government and Premier, Colin Barnett, on their re-election on Saturday.

WAFarmers President, Dale Park, said he looked forward to working with the State Government.

“WAFarmers has had a good working relationship with the Government over the past four years and I want to build on that to ensure the state’s farmers best interests are looked after,” Mr Park said.

“It was pleasing to hear the Premier acknowledge the hardships many West Australians are feeling in rural areas, in particular the eastern Wheatbelt, and that it was one of the first issues he must address.”

Mr Park said WAFarmers 10 Key State Election Issues, released during the campaign, would remain in place and the Government would be held to account for the commitments and promises it made.

“The Liberals and Nationals both released agricultural policies so we will wait and see what their combined agricultural policy will look like and whether it addresses the key issues in the farming community,” he said.

“Our 10 key issues are what people in rural and regional Western Australia are concerned about and WAFarmers will be lobbying this Government to ensure a better deal for farmers and rural communities,” Mr Park concluded.
