The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) will be hosting its 2013 Annual Conference, presented by Emerald Grain, “Future Innovations in Agriculture”, at the Vines Resort & Country Club in the Swan Valley on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March 2013.
Day One will consist of the inaugural AgClassic Golf Day, followed by a sundowner by the pool while a social media workshop will run concurrently with the golf day.
Day Two will commence with the traditional WAFarmers Business Breakfast followed by a panel discussion, featuring Catherine Marriott and Author of The Coming Famine, Julian Cribb.
Following the panel discussion, WAFarmers will hold its Annual General Meeting, General Section Conference and then conferences for Grains, Meat and Wool sections.
The event will conclude with a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on the Friday evening.
WAFarmers President, Dale Park said there was a need to change the format of the Conference to make it more appealing to a broader range of people involved in agriculture
“Events such as the Golf Day, panel discussion and Social Media Workshop will allow for more social interaction between conference attendees,” Mr Park said.
“The social media workshop aims to encourage members to participate and engage with WAFarmers on its interactive platforms, such as facebook and twitter. Developed with Beginners in mind, it is ideal for those who have an interest in social media and want to learn how to effectively communicate with this new medium.”
Mr Park said the panel discussion would allow conference attendees with the chance to ask pertinent questions to two key figures in agriculture.
“Catherine has been an advocate for the live export trade and she will discuss aspects of her recent trip to the USA and share her thoughts on exciting innovations and the strategic direction for agriculture,” he said.
“Mr Cribb will be enlightening us on the innovations in agriculture that are currently occurring throughout the world and how WA must join the innovation phase to survive.”
