WAFarmers standing behind AgForce Queensland

WAFarmers strongly supports AgForce Queensland Farmers’ campaign to have the Queensland Government hand the agricultural colleges at Longreach and Emerald back to industry, if the Government is unwilling to maintain them.

WAFarmers CEO Trevor Whittington said the colleges play a critical role within the agriculture education and training system, a system that supports the future of our industry.

“This decision will have wide ramifications not only for the Queensland industry, but agriculture right across Australia,” Mr Whittington said.

“This decision lacks merit as there was little consultation with industry to understand the importance of the facilities and the opportunities available to students wanting to enter the agricultural industry.

“WAFarmers looks forward to continuing to engage with AgForce, National Farmers Federation and other State Farming Organisations to ensure these crucial facilities can continue to help strengthen the future of agriculture.”
