WAYAA nominations for young ag advocates to close next week

Young agricultural advocates only have until next Friday to nominate for the WAFarmers and Rural Bank Agriculture Award as part of the 2016/2017 Western Australian Young Achiever Awards.

An Agriculture Award was established following the inaugural awards last year as a way to fully represent the achievements of young Western Australians, and highlight those who play a part in shaping the future of WA’s agricultural community.

WAFarmers Chief Executive Officer Stephen Brown said all young people aged up to and including 29 years of age should be encouraged to nominate for the Agriculture Award.

“WAFarmers has a vested interest in developing the potential of young people within agriculture and helping them to become the farmers of tomorrow, so we are thrilled to be partnering with Rural Bank for this important award,” Mr Brown said.

“We know from our experience with young agricultural people, through AgConnectWA and otherwise, that there are limitless ideas to be shared with the sector and accomplishments to be acknowledged, so we look forward to celebrating these individuals at the awards later this year.”

Nominations for the eight categories are open, with each category winner to receive $2,000 and a trophy. One of the eight category winners will then be selected as the Western Australian Young Achiever of the Year and will win an additional $2,000 and a state trophy.

“We would be delighted to receive nominations from or on behalf of young agricultural advocates that are making your local community a better place to live.” said Rural Bank Regional Manager Tim Batger.
