The grains industry has commissioned an independent review to seek to ensure GRDC has a structure that will deliver robust, accountable and commercial research development and extension (R, D and E) outcomes to levy payers for years to come.
The review is being undertaken by independent consultant Marsden Jacob Associates with particular examination of:
- the strengths and weaknesses of other RDC structures and other non RDC organisations
- whether potential changes to the PIERD and CAC Acts, or structural change, including but not limited to an industry owned company, are necessary to address weaknesses
- whether alternate models have the potential to improve the R, D and E outcomes and profitability of the Grains industry
- costs associated with change, both transactional and operating impact.
Marsden Jacob Associates have released an issues paper and are seeking grower feedback by 9 May, 2014 (extended), before they begin work on a draft report, at which point they will seek further grower feedback.
