The 2014 National Dairy Summit will take place in Melbourne on March 13. The Summit will bring together farmers from across the country, state dairy farming bodies, farming organisations and political and government leaders in an exciting and forward-thinking forum on our industry’s future and is free to attend. WAFarmers Dairy Section has received funding through Australian Dairy Farmers for a series of Dairy Members Days this year. One day each month, Dairy Executive Officer Stephanie Tarlinton and a member of the Dairy Council will visit the dairy farms of members and non-members, giving farmers a chance to meet WAFarmers representatives and hear directly about the work being done on behalf of industry. The first Dairy Members Day is January 22.
WAFarmers Dairy Section has made a submission to Food Safety Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) on a proposal to consider permissions for the production and sale of raw milk products. Pursuant to Section 72 of the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand Act 1991, FSANZ called for submissions to assist further consideration of the proposal.
