To support communities through the period of the phasing out of live sheep export, the Australian Government has funded the Community Wellbeing Program (CWP), delivered in partnership by Rural Aid, Holyoake and the Blue Tree Project. Together, we are working to provide practical, accessible wellbeing support for sheep producers, their families, farm workers, agricultural businesses and rural communities impacted by the transition. The Community Wellbeing Program offers a suite of complementary services, including:
- Free, confidential mental health counselling delivered by Rural Aid’s experienced rural counsellors, available face-to-face, via telehealth or by telephone.
- Mental health training and education delivered by Holyoake, providing individuals, workplaces and community groups with practical skills to recognise, respond to and support mental wellbeing.
- Community wellbeing events and connection activities facilitated by the Blue Tree Project, creating opportunities for communities to come together, strengthen social connections and encourage conversations around mental health.
