WAFarmers seeks comments

WAFarmers is seeking comments from its members regarding the Landholders’ Rights to Refuse (Gas and Coal) Bill 2015. The Bill (which can be accessed here) has been referred to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 7 August, 2015.   The private senator’s bill proposes to make gas or coal mining activities undertaken without prior written authorisation from landholders unlawful and would ban constitutional corporations from engaging in hydraulic fracturing operations (fracking)

Changes to road rules in WA

Main Roads WA has introduced changes to Western Australian legislation, introducing ‘Chain of Responsibility’ provisions to bring WA in line with many of the eastern states. The changes apply from 27 April, 2015. These include regulations which will require drivers to use approved webbing, tie-downs or certified rope.
