No Support for Amendment

The WAFarmers Grains Council has not supported a proposal to amend the Agricultural Produce Commission (APC) Act of 1988 to provide the ability for broadacre cropping to form APC Producers’ Committees at this point in time.

While the Council acknowledges that the APC Act works well for small industries in specific circumstances, such as table grapes, the breadth and scope of the grains industry mean that the Act may not be suitable for broadacre cropping in a practical sense.

The Council would be receptive to other groups putting forward their reasons to lobby for the proposed amendments however it does not believe it is a priority for the Council at this time.

All media requests must be directed to WAFarmers Marketing and Communications Officer Leslee Hall on (08) 9486 2100 or [email protected].
