Breeding and Rearing Code of Practice

WAFarmers made a submission in late 2013 on the public call for submissions on “The Code of Practice for the Operation of Breeding and Rearing Businesses” in Victoria.  The Code will come into effect on 11 April, 2014. Bee Executive meeting outcomes

The WAFarmers Beekeeping Executive has elected Brendon Fewster as new Senior Vice President and Rod Pavy as Vice President.  WAFarmers met with the Department of Agriculture and Food to discuss the export of packaged bees, National Biosecurity Plan, importation of untreated honey to WA permit, National Code of Practice, Asian Honey Bee program and Small Hive Beetle program.    WAFarmers will be seeking to meet with appropriate government departments on the matter of having perpetual clearing

Wool Section update

 WAFarmers wool council will be meeting on February 21, 2014 to discuss a variety of matters concerning the wool industry.  The meeting will be an opportunity to meet with wool industry peak body WoolProducers Australia’s President and CEO to discuss the National Wild Dog Action Plan, mulesing competencies and registrar, Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines, to name a few.  The Annual Conference preparations are progressing well with Professor David Lindsay being one of the keynote
