Gooch appointed to animal welfare committe

The Western Australian Farmers Federation (Inc.) (WAFarmers) congratulates Life Member and current Wool Section Advisor, Tony Gooch, on his appointment to the Western Australian Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC).

AWAC is a new advisory body established by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Hon Terry Redman, to provide strategic advice on matters related to animal welfare, including policy, legislation and codes of practice, education, use of animals for scientific purposes, emerging animal welfare issues and community attitudes and trends.

WAFarmers Wool Section President, Ed Rogister, wished Mr Gooch all the best with his appointment.

“Tony has a long and extensive involvement and understanding of animal welfare issues within the animal industry both at a state and national level, and will be a great asset on the committee” Mr Rogister said.

“He has been heavily involved on the WAFarmers Wool Section Council and more recently dealing with the Australian Animal Welfare Standards and Guidelines for Sheep.

“Terry Redman has made a good decision in appointing him and I know that he will be a valuable advisor to the Minister,” Mr Rogister concluded.
