Nominations open for Rural Women’s Award

Women involved in agriculture are encouraged to nominate for the 2015 Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation’s (RIRDC) Rural Women’s Award.

Agriculture and Food Minister Ken Baston said the award was open to all women in primary industries and rural Western Australia.

“The award supports and recognises the leadership role of women within their community and the outstanding contribution they make to agriculture and rural WA,” Mr Baston said.

“The award recipient will receive a $10,000 bursary towards a project or initiative that will benefit primary industries and rural Australia.

“This bursary can be used for a number of purposes including formal training in leadership and business management, overseas study tours, the development of business plans and pilot programs, conferences and industry forums or educational and promotional programs.”

The WA winner will also have the opportunity to attend the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course in Canberra with other State and Territory winners and represent WA at the national awards.

Applications close on October 31, 2014. The WA RIRDC Rural Women’s Award is supported by the Department of Agriculture and Food WA, CBH Group and Westpac.
